    Dental Implant Procedure

Dental implants are a process through which the roots of natural teeth are replaced with metal supports similar to screws, and the damaged or missing tooth is replaced with an artificial tooth that closely resembles real teeth in terms of shape and performance.
Dental implants are a good alternative to dentures or dental bridges that do not match the nature of the jaw and natural tooth roots as required.

The way dental implants are performed depends on the type of component being implanted and the condition of the jawbone. The implant takes several operations spanning several months until the dental implant process is completed in its final form.

The main benefit of the implants is to provide solid support for the new tooth, and this process requires the bone to completely heal around the “implant” being implanted. Since the process of complete healing itself takes up to several months, and it is estimated at an average of three months in most patients.

    Dental Implant Components

Dental implants used in the dental implant process consist of three parts:

    1.  Crown: It is a tooth-like part, made of ceramic materials and designed to look like a natural tooth.
    2.  Abutment: The part that is used to fix the crown of the tooth with its base, made in the shape of a hexagon or eight.
    3.  Implant: The titanium screw-shaped base fuses with the natural jawbone to provide a secure and stable base for the replacement tooth.

    Candidates for Dental Implant

Dental implants offer a radical solution for many people who suffer from major dental problems, but the candidates for this implant process must have some qualities, including…

    • Anyone who is over (18) and their bone growth of the jaws is completed.
    •  Anyone who has one or more missing teeth.
    • Those who have a fully grown jawbone.
    • Those with a jawbone are able to accommodate the bone graft.
    • People with healthy gum tissue.
    • Those who do not suffer from health conditions that will affect bone healing, such as; Heart disease, diabetes, or blood pressure.
    • Those who cannot wear dentures, or who do not want them.
    • Those who wish to improve their pronunciation and facial appearance.
    • Those who can allocate several months to complete the process.

    The Stages Of Dental Implants

Dental implants are performed under local anesthesia and take place in multiple stages over a period ranging from (3) to (9) months between the upper and the lower jaws. The dental implant process consists of the following stages:

    Evaluation

The first step will be to evaluate your teeth, gums, and jaw bones. An important part of this initial evaluation is to determine if you have enough healthy jawbone to maintain the implant.
During this stage, the type of anesthesia that the doctor deems appropriate for you is determined; Whether it is local anesthesia, intravenous anesthesia, or general anesthesia.

    Placing The Implant

    The procedure here varies according to the bone density in the jaws;

    – If the bone density is good, the doctor here performs the endosteal implant, through which the doctor inserts the internal implants surgically deep into the jawbone, to replace the roots of the teeth. These are small screw-like implants made of pure titanium, which is one of the metals most compatible and suitable with the tissues of the human body.

    – But if the bone density is weak, and not sufficient to support the implant, the jawbone is not dug for implantation, but subperiosteal implants are inserted under the gum and placed above the bone and not inside it.

No matter what type of implant you receive, you can expect to feel some discomfort and swelling afterward. This may last for several days. The doctor recommends eating light foods, cold foods, and warm soups at this point.

    Osseointegration

After the dental implant is placed, it will take two to six months before enough new bone growth grows around the implant. This process is known as osseointegration.

During osteosynthesis, the normal jawbone hardens and grows around the dental implants, which keeps it firmly in place, as if it acts as the root of the artificial tooth. Therefore, the fusion of the bone is a sure indication of the success of the transplant.

    Fixing The Crown

At this stage, the doctor installs the crown on the implant implanted in the jaw. The design of the crown depends on the size, shape, and color of the other teeth. Shortly after this stage, the patient can eat normally on the implanted teeth.

Since the replacement teeth need some time to become ready, the doctor may install a temporary crown to help the patient eat and speak normally until the permanent crown is ready.

    Post- Implantation Recommendations

There are a set of tips that help protect implanted teeth and maintain a healthy and healthy oral environment for as long as possible. Remember that your new teeth will look natural, so take care of them just like your natural teeth…

    1.  Brushing and flossing your teeth daily.
    2.  Clean the gums and do not leave food residues in them.
